Scrapbook Layout: I Feel Cute {me & my BIG ideas}

Hey there!

I have a layout to share that uses lots of new products by me & my BIG ideas. I just love the new things they have released. This week or next week, I get to see the newest addition to the mambi family- The Happy Planner™! I am SO excited to play with this planner, or rather plan with this planner. I'm eager to see what this planner fad is all about. :)

So, in the meantime, here is my newest mambi project. I tried to keep it pretty simple and just focus on the large title and the photo of me. I even made a process video for this page (yay!). You can see that by clicking HERE.

This pink art abstract print is one of my faves. AND those cute silver alpha stickers! Swoon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook Layout: Style

I'm here to share a layout that I made for a design team call. For the call, you had to create a new never-seen-before project for part of the application. I didn't make the team, but I now get to share the layout that I made!

I wanted to use some fun, pretty shades of blue and pink for this layout about my sister. I have lots of photos of her and sometimes I get tired of thinking of titles for all of them. This particular photo was focused on her outfit, so I thought, "Why not make a layout about her style?" She has definitely got some awesome style. I promise you if it wasn't for her, I'd be wearing ugly old lady clothes. ;) She helps me out.

I mixed different items from my stash for this page. Sometimes there are just items that you love and want to use but never have the chance to! For example, that tag/ journaling card that says "very important." It is from the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party collection and I just love it. I'm glad I finally used it!

Can we take a moment to take in the beauty of this gorgeous stamp?! I bought it in a Studio Calico add-on kit just because I wanted the stamp. And yep- I've never regretted it. I will use this stamp forever. This particular time I heat embossed it with white powder and then watercolored the image. I have to say I love the elegant vibe it gives to the page!

Alright, back to the grindstone. Tomorrow is college.

P.S. I have done a lot of Project Life spreads this year and hardly any of them have been shared here! I need to fix that. I am really bad about taking photos of them. Especially when those page protectors glare from the light! Arg! I will get them posted SOON. I must tell myself that.

Card Making: Shine

Hello! It's another week, and I'm SUPER excited because my friend Katelyn is coming down from Missouri to visit me! I know we will have a blast. It's so weird though. I honestly feel like we just talked about it (which was about a month ago) and BAM. It's already here. Time flies. I guess I'm getting old. LOL

EDITED TO ADD: Katelyn just texted me and told me it was NEXT weekend, not this weekend, that she was coming. Boo! Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait one more week for our fun! :)

In other news more related to craftiness, I have a new scrappy pen pal! Her name is Melissa and I found her through Studio Calico/ Instagram. We send happy mail once a month. Usually some scrappy items and a letter. It's so fun. I love sending and receiving mail. Always have. And she seems super sweet.

Since I have ended my Studio Calico subscription, Melissa sends me bits and pieces of the current kit that she does not want and/or thinks I will like. She sent me part of the really cute stamp set from the Cirque scrapbook kit. Actually it's most of the set. She kept one of the phrases, but sent me the rest. She also sent me some of the papers from the current kit, so I used one of those on this card as well.

It's really neat that Melissa sends me pieces from the SC kits because I feel like I still get the kit! :)

I heat embossed a few of the gem outlines and pop-dotted other gems to mix it up a bit.

I went a little crazy with the black mist... I just kept adding mist, mist, and more mist to the card. Then I was like, oops. That's a little overboard on the black. But oh well. I couldn't think of a solution to fix it so I just went with it. So I'm just gonna embrace it.

Who would you send this card to if you could? Leave me a comment! I love hearing from you!

Scrapbook Layout: The Beach

I just love the beach. Let me just state that. I spent an hour this afternoon walking along the beach and taking photos (we are at Orange Beach, Alabama for the weekend). It's so peaceful and beautiful here.

Number two, I love this layout. :) And the time that I documented on this page (which was last December). It was a little getaway for Laura, my dad, and me. We just needed some time away. :) Good thing the beach isn't that far away.

I made this layout a few weeks ago and am just getting around to sharing it. I used a Studio Calico sketch for this page and used lots of SC kits to make it. I think I have mentioned before that I have put all of my months of Studio Calico kits together. Papers with papers, wood veneer with wood veneer, etc. Doing this helps me pick products that don't look matchy-matchy and help give new life to my older kits!

I thought the grid design was super fun. I literally just dug around in all my embellishments to add some cutesy to this page once I had picked out the basic pink/blue/neutral patterned paper. I think everything here on this page is from SC except those awesome BIG glittery letters on the top half of the page (they're from mambi) and that wood veneer heart is from my stash (Studio Calico brand, just not in a Studio Calico kit like the other items).

Mixing texture is one of my all-time favorite things to do on my pages. That diamond grid was one of those items I heard lots of complaints about on the SC message boards. Turns out, I think it adds such a nice texture to whatever projects I use it on.

I have a lot more photos of the beach to scrapbook since we're here once again, but I'm thinking I might do a mini album using all the photos. I have a GOLD 4x4 Instagram album from We R Memory Keepers that I might use.

Till next time,
Heather

Scrapbook Layout: Love You Lots

Hello! Happy Valentine's Day!

This project isn't really Valentine-y themed, but it is about love! :) I have so many photos of Laura and I. I think it's just a rule that every time we go shopping, we have to take a series of selfies. Sometimes I don't like the thought of re-scrapping basically the same photos, but then again- someday I will be able to look back on all of them and see how we changed from photo to photo! So then I'm ok with it.

I used the BRAND NEW Crate Paper "Craft Market" line for this page. I actually won it from their CHA giveaways (this is the very first time I've won a whole line from any CHA giveaway that I can remember). It's such a pretty line. Lots of pinks and blues and florals. It just added to the excitement that this line isn't even in stores yet. I feel so trendy. ;) Here's an idea of all the sheer goodness I got in a box this past week:

Awesome, right?! Needless to say I was one happy gal when UPS dropped off the box. You will probably see lots of projects from me with this line. Just warnin' ya.

I also LOVE participating in Scrapbook Circle's sketch challenges, so this is the sketch I used for the layout.

I used lots of little bits and pieces on this page, and I really like the simplicity of the design. I should also add that I painted in some of the words on that gold foil (yes, GOLD FOIL!) paper with the watercolors that matched the color scheme of the collection.

I filled the right 1/4 of the page with journaling just to weigh that side down a little bit more. Plus I got to ramble more in my journaling.

So there you have it! Another "sister selfie" scrapped! :)

xoxo, Heather

Countdown to Valentine's Day: Tags

It's ONE day till Valentine's Day!

So today I have some tags to share. I made these using some {awesome} cutfiles from The Cut Shoppe. I love making things for other people, so I made these tags to attach to some sweet treats for my family members.

I used chalkboard paint (!!!) for the base tags. I had been watching a Wilna Furstenburg video tutorial where Wilna uses chalkboard paint for some Dear Lizzy tags, and I remembered that I do have chalkboard paint! I don't think it's exactly meant for paper crafting, but it's fine. I'm not really worried about the archival quality of these. ;) I wrote on the painted tags with an awesome Sakura Jelly Roll pen. It's the best white pen ever.

To finish the tags, I took some basic white acrylic paint and a paintbrush to splatter some paint flecks on the tags.

You can read more about the making of these tags on The Cut Shoppe blog today. :)

And that wraps up my week of Valentine inspiration! Which project was your favorite this week? I'd love to know!

Countdown to Valentine's Day: Layout

Hello! Here is another Valentine-y project I have made recently.

This time I used lots of me & my BIG ideas products. I mean... a LOT. I went a little sticker happy. ;)

I love the way the dimensional stickers look paired with the clear white stickers on the black paper. I have come to appreciate clear stickers.

I thought the ? would be really good symbolism for me wondering who I will eventually marry. Someday I will fill that ? space! :)

Come back tomorrow for my last Valentine's Day themed project! It's personally my favorite. :)

Countdown to Valentine's Day: Flashback

Flashback Wednesday! I thought it would be fun to share some Valentine's Day cards I made last year (I think they're all from last year).

I think it's hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to, I would choose the first one. The card with the cut papers strips that reveal the pattern underneath. I still remember making that card and thinking it was a hot mess. But once it was finished, I loved it!

Which one is your favorite?

Countdown to Valentine's Day: Moodboard

Today is another day for sharing a Valentine's Day project here on my blog! Yay!

This one is pretty exciting for me.

I've been wanting to design a moodboard for a while now. It's kind of like styling lots of objects to fit in one photo. I had sent little boxes of Valentine's Day goodies to a few of my friends a couple of weeks ago (so they could enjoy them early!), and I wanted to take a picture of all the items I sent them. So, I placed them all out on a piece of posterboard and took a pic! Of course I added some props to the photo, like the heart shaped sunglasses and the baker's twine. But that's the fun of it. Adding little things.

The main focus of the package was the little heart banner. I literally cut over 100 hearts with my Silhoutte Cameo so I could layer them and make several banners. Maybe that's why my mat is not sticky anymore and my blade is dull… lol

I had so much fun creating this little Valentine- themed moodboard. Makes you want to grab everything out of the photo, doesn't it?!

Countdown to Valentine's Day: Card

Hello! This week I will be sharing one Valentine's Day project a day in a little countdown to the big day on Saturday! :)

Today's project is a fun card I made with me & my BIG ideas products. I am a total patterned paper lover, and so of course I wanted to use some of their beautiful love-y patterns for this card. After punching the hearts from the papers, I painted half of each heart with golf metallic paint. I used washi tape to make sure the lines were straight. :)

I painted the background of the card with some white paint first for the polka dots and then with blue watercolor once the white paint dried. The dots resist the watercolor a little bit, and I thought that looked pretty cool!

I then sewed the hearts to the card and added some buttons and a glittery dimensional sticker to finish the card.

Come back tomorrow for a Valentine's Day moodboard that I made myself! :)

Scrapbook Layout: Adventure {The Cut Shoppe}

I am super excited to be back with a layout that I LOVED creating. It was one of those pages that did not go how as planned, but turned out awesome.

I even videoed the process of me making this layout. (Yes! A new YouTube video!!) I'm not sure what video I'll be doing next... I haven't done a cardmaking video, but I don't know if that something people would want to watch me do. I might do a cardmaking tips video. Who knows what I'll come up with... ;)

BTW, I'm having some issues with fixing the white balance on photos like these... white layouts... so please bear with me. :) And let me know if you have any tips! I need them! LOL

Visit The Cut Shoppe blog for more info about this layout. :)
