It's October 1st!!! So I can let out my exciting news! Yay! I'm the teen designer over at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out this month! I had the pleasure of working with them with the Create U Visual Journaling branch of their company. They've changed it a bit now and they're having a teen designer designing with their kit every month or so. October is my month!
To start out, here is the kit I was sent to work with. It's called "Belonging." Belonging is such an awesome theme to scrapbook about. Especially for a young adult like me. I looked into all sorts of different aspects of the meaning of the word "belonging." I feel like I really scrapped my heart with this kit.
This kit is FULL of the "Recorded" line by Allison Kreft for Webster's pages. It comes with lots of the papers from this line along with the alphabet/element sticker sheet, a cameo, and heart shaped paperclips. Plus along with that there is included part of the "Penelope" line from Elle's Studio. These two lines look like they were MADE for one another. They fit so perfectly together. Sometimes I put stuff together from different lines and think, "Eeh… I guess they match," but these two lines look AWESOME together. I mean it. There are also some sparkly Thickers, a Mix Tape stencil from The Crafter's Workshop, and a purple (the perfect purple, I might add) Distress marker from Tim Holtz in this month's kit. And I probably forgot something somewhere… Anyway, you have GOT to look at this kit. It's just awesome. :)
And here is the first layout I made with the kit. I'll be sharing my layouts here on my blog throughout this month, with some extra bits and pieces about each one.
I wanted to use the TCW stencil on this page, so I used some white acrylic paint and a foam brush to dab the design onto the background of my page. I tried this once on a different piece of paper and it worked perfectly. And then I did it on this page and it turned out messy! WHY?? Oh well, life is messy, what can I say?
I love layering, so of course I used that technique on my very first page. I used six papers under the photo as symbolism for the six people on our family! You may notice I also used a piece of paper that had anchors on it. That's symbolizing being anchored by my family. One last symbolism bit here-- I love that the tapes in the background kinda give the overall feel of being "recorded." Going old school here. :) I used an Elle's Studio tabbed card for my journaling and slid it behind the layers in a little manilla envelope. You can't see the envelope, but the journaling is tucked away perfectly in there. The hidden journaling fits in perfectly with the layers.
BELONGING- I love being in my family. It's definitely a place of "belonging" in my life. I journaled about how I am so blessed to have a wonderful family and how I feel sorry for those who don't have a loving family like I do. A family is a place to belong.
I love what you did- especially the messy stencil! :)
