With the new washi tapes being released at me & my BIG ideas last month, I just HAD to find a way to use them on some Christmas gift tags! I love washi tape, and this is fun new way to use washi tape in a festive way!
I have also been gravitating towards simple and clean designs in my crafting, and these are definitely both of those things.
To make these, I simply just placed strips of washi tape on a piece of paper and then diecut the paper with my manual die cutting machine (my Cuttlebug). Using a manual die cutting machine makes it so the edges are nice and clean. I don't know how well it would work with an electronic deicutting machine. You could also use a large punch if you have one.
After die cutting the tags, I punched holes in them and then added some minimal embellishing.
This gold foil starburst printed washi tape from THIS set is one of my new faves. So elegant and pretty! I want to use this particular one on everything Christmas.
And the crazy, surprising thing about these? My mom loved them! She usually hates washi tape on stuff... don't ask me why. She just does. But she looked at them was said, "Now THAT'S how you use washi." :P I'm glad my mom approves. ;)
I hope these inspire you and make you want to create some of your own!
This project is also up on the me & my BIG ideas blog today if you want to check it out HERE. :)
My mom is the same she hates using washi tape. I love the tags.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to use washi on my layouts as I don't really trust it to hold for years. I have used it for die cuts though in the same way you did this. Then I have used those die cuts for embellishments. I trust it more with that sort of sealed edge on it from the dies.
ReplyDeleteYour tags are so pretty. Wonder if I might have time to do some today. Hmmmm
