Mixed Media Valentine

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and say... I'm not a mixed media expert. I'm not going to even try to say that I know what I'm doing. I only attempted this because I love my little sister. She likes the mixed media look, so I made this valentine for her. I did enjoy making this mixed media card, but I'm not awesome at it.

I started out with using some chalk pastels and oil pastels to create the background. I blended the colors together with a baby wipe. Then I just dabbed on some paint and added some washi tape once it dried. Then I put a Prima butterfly on the card and placed the stickers on. Last, I cut 3 "love" phrases with my Cameo and layered them on top of another with some dimensional glue dots. It's definitely a little messy, but I think it turned out all right. I think she'll like it. ;)

  1. It's beautiful! Is that camera part of washi tape? Love it. I think it turned out great, and very mixed-media. ;)

  3. Awesome job with your attempt at mixed media! You've hit the nail on the head IMHO! What a lucky sister you have, to have such a talented and devoted loving sister to make her such awesome gifts! I think on one hand, mixed media looks intimidating, but on the other hand, there are no rules, so it is pure inspiration at work! Love your results!!!
