Love This Boy

I'm sharing a layout today that has one of my favorite boys on it! :P This is Blaine.

He's my second cousin's little boy. They live not too far from us, and sometimes we have Jana and the boys over. Boys meaning Landon and Blaine. Landon is 3 1/2 years old and Blaine is 1 1/2 years old. They're both very special to me. Blaine has a special little place in my heart. We go to church with them and they sit on the bench across from the one I sit on. Blaine will just grin at me and walk to the end of their bench, just looking at me. (He knows not to come across! :P) I just love him!!

So, last week they came over for Jana's birthday. I got a few pictures of both the boys. I love to scrapbook them! They're about the only boys I scrapbook. I mean, I scrap my brothers and dad every now and then (ok… maybe not even that!), but it's fun to scrapbook little guys!

I had this photo of Blaine that I thought was so sweet. Blaine loves to have his picture taken. He'll pose for you, smile for you, or do something silly so you can take a picture of him. TOTALLY not like his brother. I tried taking a picture of Landon and I told him to smile. He said, "I can't smile." I replied, "Ok. Frown." He said, " I can't frown." So I just got a dud picture. Later I did get some ok/semi- good photos, but Blaine. Oh, he's such a doll. Ok, I better get to talking about my layout now!

I have no idea why I got the urge to pull out my Allison Kreft "Color and Composition" collection, but I took it out and found that there are some awesome boyish colors in it! I chose the colors turquoise, yellow, and white to go with the neutral black and white and woodgrain. I watched a Two Peas video recently that Wilna Fustenburg (sp?) had done and she had taken her Glitz Designs stamp roller and rolled it around in gesso on the background of her layout. I thought it looked pretty cool! So, I used that technique on my page, just with white paint. I think I got the same awesome effect with paint. Someday I'll buy some gesso… it just seems so expensive! The paper didn't warp hardly any because the Webster's Pages paper is AWESOMELY thick. It's in a class by itself as far as quality goes. I looooove their paper!

By, the way, I made this layout all myself. No sketches, no scrap lifting. This page is all "me." :)

I have seen lots of hidden journaling lately in the scrapbooking world, so I did that on this layout. I used a cute little glassine bag and a Pretty Little Studio tag that fit perfectly down inside it to house my journaling. I repeated the black and white with the word strip stickers from Pebbles. I also used some neutral wood veneer to reiterate the woodgrain feel.

That's about it. Of course I could go on and on about this little boy, but I won't. I'll do that on the next post! haha. Just kidding. :)

  2. This is a great LO! I love the colours you used and the hidden tag is a great way to add stories without cluttering up the LO.
Thanks for sharing your lovely work! :)
