The Best Dad

Hello everyone! I haven't blogged in a bit and so I thought I better try to post something soon! :) Actually I do have something to post- two somethings. First of all, I have a new layout up on the PLS blog today. Go check it out-- I hope you are inspired!

Next on the list is the Daddy Dearest challenge for Scrapbook Circle. The challenge was to scrap about your dad. And I actually got to use a SC kit! Woo hoo! I used the Story Time kit from earlier this year. I loved the Glitz Design "Color Me Happy" line, but I never bought any of it myself. So this was my chance to get some of that line and some other cute goodies too! The only item I added to this page that was not from the kit is the Studio Calico green and yellow cursive stickers for the title. I thought I would use up some stash!

I really do love my dad. He's one of the greatest people I know. I hardly can put into words how much I love him. ;) He's always there for me. He works so hard for our family. He is a do-it-yourself man all the way. He loves me and my whole family. I really have a great relationship with my dad. I am blessed to have the daddy I have! :) Oh-- and I know he's the best because he took off of work to go with me to San Francisco. And he could care less about visiting cities. But we had a good time. That's another way I know he loves me. <3

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to enter my Pretty Little Studio giveaway in the post below! It ends tomorrow night! Trust me, you don't want to miss your chance. I have a LOT of good goodies picked out and ready to go to a new home! :)

Introducing... Nature Walk!

Today I'm sharing my VERY FIRST layout using the new "Nature Walk" collection from Pretty Little Studio on the PLS blog (click the blinkie on the <<left<< to visit the blog). I think Nature Walk is my new favorite line from PLS! The colors in this collection are just GORGEOUS! Minty green-blue, coral, taupe, red, and green. Oh. I'm in love. I love all the feathers, little animals, and geometric shapes in this line. You REALLY need to check it out. Why? Because I'm doing a giveaway, that's why. ;)

I have sorted through my box of PLS supplies and gathered some bits and pieces that I either have duplicates of or I don't think I'll ever use. I have an 8x8 box of PLS product to give away to one lucky reader! And I just *might* have some Nature Walk included in this giveaway!
So, all you have to do to enter is:
1. Follow my blog.
2. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite product from the Nature Walk line, which you can see by clicking HERE

The giveaway will be open through next Friday June 28th and I'll pick a winner and announce it Saturday June 29th! Don't miss you! :)

2 Projects for Today

Ok you know how I love sketches! I have a layout and a card to share with you today made from sketches!

This first project is for the Scrap Your Story sketch challenge. I used one photo instead of three and layered a lot on this page! I used the Maggie Holmes collection with a piece of older Crate Paper for the background. I love it when I use up old stuff! I think this particular piece was from the Neighborhood collection. And of course, I scrapped a photo from my graduation! :)

And I have noticed that I haven't made a card in a looooong time! I mean really, I haven't made one in probably 2 months! :O I found a new site with some challenges on it called Paper Secrets. I wanted to participate in their card sketch challenge (click HERE to go to it). I flipped the sketch sideways and made a horizontal card instead of a vertical card. I hardly ever make horizontal cards! I used The Pier collection from Crate Paper. The ephemera pack that I bought had a cute little stitched banner in it and so I used that on my card. It worked perfectly! I didn't do too much embellishing besides that because this will be going in the mail and I want it as flat as possible so it doesn't get messed up on its way to its destination!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous Tuesday! :)

Bring on the Sunshine

Happy Friday, everyone! I have a summery layout to share today made for this week's Chic Tags Sunday Challenge. The challenge was to use song lyrics on your layout. Well, I was so inspired by the Scrap Your Story challenge the other week to use song lyrics that I did another page with lyrics! Good thing there are so many songs to choose from! :) This time I used some lyrics from "All Over Me" by Josh Turner. I don't particularly love that song, but I loved the phrase "Bring On the Sunshine." I thought it fit perfectly with my pool picture I took this week when Laura and I were swimming on Monday.

I used the "Atlantic" collection from Studio Calico for this layout, mixed with some awesome Crate Paper "The Pier" pieces and of course some Chic Tags! I really enjoyed just layering and layering and layering on this one. :) Can you tell?!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

One Special Girl

I have a layout to share with you today about a very special girl. Her name is Mary Elizabeth. I knew her when I worked at the daycare. A couple of months after I quit I found out that she had leukemia! My heart was broken. She is THE sweetest and cutest little girl. It hurt my heart to know she was going to have to go through so much. Well, fast forward to graduation night. One of her brothers was in my graduating class, so she was there too. I got to see her for the first time since I found out she had cancer. Of course she had lost all of her hair, but she seemed as sweet and spunky as ever. I just love her. So I had to make sure I got a picture with her. ;) Thankfully, Mary Elizabeth has the most treatable type of leukemia, so that's encouraging. But to think-- she's 3 years old and already went through so much in her little life. Just breaks my heart.

Anyway, I used my Artful Delight May kit for this page, which had some awesome Amy Tangerine Yes, Please and Heidi Swapp Serendipity mixed together. I really liked the combo! I added some of my own embellishements, such as the wood veneer circles and die cut arrow from Chic Tags. I'm lovin' me some Chic Tags lately!!

Oh- and I used the sketch HERE from Pamela's blog for this layout. Love her sketches.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! :)

Another Post for Today-- PBK+SYS

Ok I just have to go ahead and post this layout too today. I made this layout with the Paper Bakery Kit Sketch #5. I loved all of the banners so much that I left them the way they were arranged on the sketch and just followed the layering.  I used my Dear Lizzy "Fifth & Frolic" scraps on this page. When I knew I wanted to use this sketch, I thought, "What line do I have lots of scraps of??" Fifth & Frolic won. :)

I also made this page for the Scrap Your Story challenge to document one of your journeys. I scrapped my journey through high school. I'm so glad it's over! :D

Ok I'm so bad at blogging stuff you want to read. So I'll stop now. Haha. No, really. I have trouble making blog posts interesting. Any tips?

Sketch Day {PLS}

Today there's another fabulous sketch up over at the Pretty Little Studio blog! This sketch is one of my favorites ever! It was perfect for my style! Here's a peek:

Love These Memories

Layout #2 made with my Elle's Studio Saltwater goodies! Yippee! I made this layout for the challenge over at Elle's Studio to journal on one of their tabbed cards. I love those cards and I'm so glad that that's one of the things I bought from this line! While I was making my layout, I noticed that none of the tabbed cards matched quite like I wanted them to… except for the red 4x6 card. So, I used one of the smaller cards for a pattern and trimmed it down to the 3x4 size. I like how it turned out! I then fussy cut the [awesome] "awesome" pennant out of the other side of the 4x6 card and included it on my layout too! And the saver that I am, I kept the other part of the card too to use later. ;)

This is another one of my graduation pictures! I haven't scrapped allllllll of them yet. I'm getting closer though! I was going to title this "Little Helper" or something like that, but then I saw the Chic Tags free title cut files and I just had to use one! I cut them all out in white so it would match anything. I LOVE all of the phrases. I've already used 2 of the ones I cut!

Thanks for stopping by!

SFTIO Blog Hop

Welcome to the SFTIO Design Team Blog Hop! We are showcasing layouts made by the current design team using the June kit TRANSFORMATION. If you are just starting the blog hop, make sure you begin at Melissa's blog so you don't miss out on any of the awesomeness we're showing you on this hop. This hop is special because we are saying goodbye to some wonderful ladies and also saying HELLO to our new Teen Collective. "What is a 'teen collective'?" you might ask. We are combining the Teen Designers from Create U with our Design Team at SFTIO. This will be a wonderful opportunity to have each of these girls give their perspectives on the monthly emotion. Each Teen Designer will be joining us for one month as a Guest Designer, but will be a constant and active "voice" on our website and forum.

This layout is one of my favorites I made with the ACHIEVEMENT kit from Create U. This layout is about how proud I am that I paid for my first car myself and how I consider that a great achievement in this day and age! A lot of teens nowadays have their parents pay for their cars, but my parents wanted to show us how much responsibility it takes to own a car. Plus then if we wreck our cars, we have to buy another. It makes me appreciate my car more knowing that MY hard-earned money bought it. I think it gives so much more independence knowing that I bought MY car.

As for the layout, I had this idea to use lots of pennants layered in the top left corner that came out of the total blue. I love using lots of patterns on one layout, so this option worked perfectly for me. I used some of the bright My Mind's Eye papers in this kit to complement the neutral photos. I turned the photos black and white because my car is silver and the shadows were pretty dark when I took the photos, so if I recolored them to black and white, then it would give me a lot more to work with as far as fill light is concerned. I always work in layers. First the paper, then embellishments and journaling, and lastly the title. It's so easy to pick out embellishments when you have a kit handy. INSERT SOMETHING ABOUT SYMBOLISM My title actually came from a license plate that my dad had. It said, "Don't Laugh, It's Paid For!" He had this on his clunker he drove to work. I liked the last part for my title, since I do (well, did… I have another car now) have a Mustang, not just a clunker car.

So there's a little bit about this layout.

And don't forget about the prize! Leave me a comment telling me a transformation that has happened in your life. Here's my example: Working. I got my first job in 2011. I worked at that job for 1 1/2 years-- all of this during high school! I found out how to "go with the flow" a lot more than I had had to before and I learned how to deal with not-so-nice people (and kids, for that matter!). I feel like that was a transformation in my life of me growing up. Can't say I'm a grown-up yet, but I definitely think that having that job changed my life.

Anyway, leave me a comment by Saturday @ 9:00 pm pacific time. The winner will be announced on the SFTIO Facebook page and the SFTIO blog on Monday!

Thanks for stopping my blog today! Don't forget to stop by Scrapbooking from the Inside Out to get a FREE inspiration page! You can also see their awesome June kit HERE

Would Anyone Be Interested In...

A Mystery Boxto buy? I'm thinking they would cost $30 for a flat rate box, and that includes shipping. Of course there would be a lot more than that in the box! I have a LOT of stuff to get rid of! Just leave me a comment! :)

Notebook Tutorial up at PLS

Today I have a tutorial up on the Pretty Little Studio Blog showing you how to decorate a cute little notebook! I found some plain little notebooks on clearance at Target and I have been decorating one of them every now and then. I'm sharing a summery one on the PLS blog today, so check it out! It's a Beautiful Day

I have a layout to share with you that involves song lyrics!! There is a challenge over at Scrap Your Story to use song lyrics in your title, and I immediately thought of the song "It's a Beautiful Day" by Michael Buble. Michael Buble is another one of my favorite song artists, next to Josh Turner, that is. I have thought of a lot of titles that could come from song lyrics lately, but this just happens to be the one that made it onto the page. It was definitely a beautiful day on graduation and I was SO happy it was! This photo of us throwing our graduation caps is one of my favorites from the night. I actually threw mine too soon because I was so excited about it. (Oops!)

I used the new "The Pier" line from Crate Paper for this page and some new Heidi Swapp transparent alpha letters for the title. I'm a little behind on the bandwagon for the letters, but I still love them. I originally glued them with some Scotch liquid glue, but you could see it though the letters, so I stapled them on with my Tiny Attacher and then kinda "peeled" the letters off the page so you couldn't see the glue. Do you have a good liquid glue? If so, please share! I can't seem to find one I like!

That's it for today! Have a "beautiful day!"

New to Me: Elle's Studio

Happy Monday! This past week I got some of the new "Saltwater" line from Elle's Studio in the mail from A Cherry on Top. This is the first time I have ever bought enough of their products to make a whole layout. Although I didn't buy a TON of it by any means, I still got enough to play with. And let me tell you-- I LOVE IT! I played along with Elle's Studio's sketch challenge and made a layout immediately with my new scrappy goodies.

This weekend my mom, sister, and I got to attend a Josh Turner concert! EEEkkk! It was awesome! Josh was actually sick with a head cold, so he sounded like he had a stopped up nose, but we still enjoyed watching hime sing. ;) Laura and I love him. Mom just came because it was over an hour away and we didn't know how to get there. But I think we ended up hooking her on Josh Turner's music too! I will add the original photo here just for you to swoon over. :P His Encore song was "Why Don't We Just Dance" and so some people had already started leaving before he came back on stage, so we got to move up a little bit for the last song of the night. This is my favorite photo I got!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Maybe seeing a picture of Josh Turner was worth it, right? :)
