Just My Type

Hello! And happy Monday evening! I'm just popping in with a layout that I made over the weekend for the Scrapbook Circle challenge to use typewriters on your layout

Of course, I started out with the only SC kit I have. It's called "Story Time." I love the bold bright colors mixed in with the softer blues and yellows in this kit. I thought since it was a Scrapbook Circle challenge that I should use my kit on it! I have had this typewriter sticker laying around for a while and I knew when I saw the challenge that it was going to get used! The kit didn't have anything typewriter-y in it anyway, so I thought it'd be okay to add something extra to my layout. Also I diecut the title with my Silhouette Cameo in a typewriter font. First time I have cut individual letters. Usually I weld them all together so they're easier to glue down!

My sister found her a new friend when some of my family came down for a wedding. Her name is Amy and she's so sweet! She and Laura hit it off quite well, and talked a LOT during Amy's stay at our house. So, that's why I titled my page "Just My Type." They're like two peas a pod. ;)

My Take on Project Life

Hello! I just wanted to pop in and share my take on Project Life! In the beginning, I wanted to try a mini style of PL. I wasn't sure how it all worked, but I thought it'd be fun to just try it out. So, I used a Sn@p album from Simple Stories that I got from my scrappy Secret Santa. It worked perfectly. Until I decided that I was tired of the "baby" style and wanted to move to the "big girl" style. It just so happened that I had weeks 25-27 to do when I was contemplating this change, and so I thought, "Hey- I could do half of the year (26 weeks) in my mini PL and then do the big style the rest of the year!" So it all worked out! I bought my new goodies at Hobby Lobby with coupons and now I'm doing the 'real' PL.

I haven't shared that many PL spreads here on my blog, so I thought I'd show you a couple of my favorite spreads now that I'm done with the "mini style."

Here's my Sn@p album. Perfectly full. :)

And now I can show you my first "big girl" spread! Yay! I thought it was pretty cool that I started my album with the 4th of July! :)

Ok well that's my take on it. What about you? Do you do Project Life? Or ever thought about it? I'm not saying that my life is super exciting or anything, but it is cool to look back and see what I've done throughout the year so far! :)

Sweet Summertime Cards

Hello! Just thought I'd post a couple of cards I've been working on! Katie told me about the challenge sites that Simon Says Stamp has and I just HAD to play along with their two current challenges. I haven't made many cards in the past few months, so I thought this would be a good way to get myself back in the groove of creating cards.

This first card I made for the Pin It! Challenge. The challenge was to use paper clips, clothes pins, anything to "pin it up." I looked and looked through my stash and didn't find ANY fun paper clips or anything useful for "pinning" so I ended up getting a plain metal paper clip and using it. I actually like the look! :) I used The Pier collection from Crate Paper for this card. I think it's my current favorite line to work with. As Laura says, "It's so vintagey!"

Ok. Next card. This one was made for the Stamping Challenge over at the other Simon Says Stamp challenge blog. I don't really stamp that much, but when I do, I LOVE using Lawn Fawn stamps. So, immediately when I looked through my stamp stash, I got out the ice cream Lawn Fawn stamps. Of course. I stamped the background, then discovered it was a little too bold. So, to solve that, I took out my sponge daubers and spread white Mister Huey all over the card. And it toned it down quite a bit and gave the card the lighter feel I wanted it to have. Problem solved! Sponge daubers to the rescue again! :)

Thanks for bearing with me through this post. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Father's Day 2013

Ahh! I have had this ready to post and keep forgetting to when I actually have internet connection! I WILL get it posted today. I will, I will, I will…

This is my latest- latest layout. Meaning I have lots of other stuff to show you, but this is the last layout I have completed recently. So happy to be back scrapping. ;) I had this layout started with a sketch from The Paper Bakery, but I did something I never ever do… I put it in a drawer. And did something else. And forgot about it. Oh. no. And then the sketch challenge ended and I was stuck with lots of paper that I had already cut to fit the sketch. Oops. And I didn't really like how it was turning out anyway. Bigger oops.

Then, the new sketch from PBK came out. Yay! And angels started singing! (Ok not really.) I had some new inspiration! So, I took the papers and supplies I had set aside for this layout and started again. I used the same stuff, but totally changed the layout of the page. Yes, I do have some scraps leftover from the other layout, but I like this page a lot better. Feels a bit more "me" than the other page I was making. And I think that's worth losing some paper over.

I keep telling myself to use up my stash, so this paper I used is from the "Follow Your Heart" collection from My Mind's Eye from last year. And that grey background paper? It's ancient. I think it's from Fancy Pants. I'm glad to say I have used this collection up! Ok, well, all that I'm probably going to use. Something I'm learning about myself is I like fresh and new products. Once they sit in my stash for a bit, I get uninspired. Just like photos too, though. I have to scrap new just-taken photos for me to enjoy scrapping at its maximum enjoyment limit. Just so ya know. :)

Oh- almost forgot to tell you a little something interesting about this layout! Where the sketch had the title placed is, well, where it is. But the patterned bicycle on that one piece of paper was annoying me. It was too bold. So, I got out my white Mister Huey and a little sponge dauber I bought from Stampin' Up a while back and made a very light coating of white color over the patterns. Now the bold black bicycle isn't as bold anymore and doesn't interfere as bad with the title. If you don't have any sponge daubers, you can always use a napkin or paper towel to spread the mist on your layout. Works pretty well, if I do say so myself!

That's all, folks1 I'll try to be back soon so I can show you the awesome projects I've been working on! :)

Sperry Love

Ahh… back to scrapping. I have been working on my San Francisco album lately and it's been a while since I have actually layout scrapped! Well, it seems like a while to me. But when I saw the challenge at Chic Tags this week to use triangles on your layout, I knew I "needed" to play along. ;) I did something a little different on this layout and went all "Tina Walker" on it. LOL I have noticed that she uses her Silhouette a lot and cuts out large shapes and layers them on her pages. So I took that little technique and made a page that had triangles ALL OVER IT! I die cut the large triangles with my Cameo and then layered different patterns behind the negatives. I cut some smaller triangles too to layer on top too. I am trying to use up the collections that I have before buying new ones (hahahahaha… that's a laugh!) and so I was attempting to use up my Glitz Design "Uncharted Waters" line. Instead all I did was make more scraps of it. I guess it still wants to hang around my scrap room.

I am finally printing all my Instagram photos that I have been wanting to scrap for a while now. I bought a Canon Selphy CP900 4x6 printer and I LOVE it! At first I didn't think it would print my collages I make in Picasa, but I found out it does but just doesn't show them on the display screen. They show up as "?". But hey, just as long as it prints the pics, I'm fine! :)

As for the subject of my layout--- I love Sperrys. I think it all started when Mom and Dad bought me my first pair for my birthday last fall. They are taupe with cheetah print on the sides. And then there is a layer of clear sequins on top of the cheetah print! They're really cute. And girly. I'm all about girly stuff. :) But anyway. I had just bought this new pair of navy Sperrys (I'm a blue girl!) and I instagrammed it so I thought "Why not scrap it?" I mean, I'm documenting life, right?

Oh, and I used this cute flair button I received as a prize from winning the sketch challenge over at The Paper Bakery. Isn't it so cute??

Thank you for stopping by! Happy Saturday! :)
