A Trendy Card

Here's another card I made for a CHA-S challenge over at 2peas! :) This challenge was to create a project with 3 trends combined. So, I used hexagons, misting, and polaroids on my card. The Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line has a page of nothing by polaroids. So I cut out a couple of them and then die-cut my scraps that I had from this particular line with my Cricut. I would have HATED to cut out every single one of these hexagons by hand, and so I'm glad I have my Cricut for times like these!

Have a wonderful day! Stay tuned for some of my scrappy excitement I was talking about in my last post! :)

A Favorite Card of Mine

I have had lots of excitement going on recently! :) Both in regular life and in my little scrapbook world. When I have found actual time to scrapbook, I've been doing it for some challenges. I made this card last week for the 2Peas color challenge. And I have to say, this is one of my FAVORITE cards ever in my history of cardmaking. One of my favorite techniques I used on this card is very simple-- I recolored my gray Amy Tan chipboard Thickers with a Sharpie that was the color of my patterned paper. I love how the blue popped on my white circle! And I think I am falling in love with doilies. I just LOVE the elegance they give to, well, EVERYTHING! This is definitely one my favorite cards. Ever.

Have a fabulous Hump Day! :)

Frosted Designs' Last Card Sketch Challenge

Sad news...
Frosted Designs is stopping the card sketch challenges. This is the last challenge. :( Boo hoo! I totally understand the reason they have to quit. More work goes into these challenges than probably anyone realizes (including me).

With that, let me bring you to my card for this week!! I had the privilege of designing this sketch, so of course it was totally my styl. I am very proud of this card because of one simple reason: I used up some scraps on this card! Yaaay! The brown and red patterns are from Crate Paper and the white/ blue is from Lily Bee, I believe. The ladybug sticker has been in my scrap supplies for a lonnnng time, and I was glad to finally have it used up (even though I still have one ladybug left in the pack).

Thanks for visiting, and be sure to play along in Frosted Designs' LAST CARD CHALLENGE!

Pretty Little Studio Fun

Just a quick post to share a layout and I card I have made this week for a couple of challenges.

First, here's my take on Frosted Designs' Sketch Along Tuesday Layout Sketch. I used Pretty Little Studio's "Monsieur" collection.

And here's my take on the sketch over at Pretty Little Studio. I used the "Antique Store" collection from PLS.

Sorry for the quick post, but I have to go soon! :)

Thinking Through Design- Calendars

Ok- I AM going to post my DT project on time this time! :) Today there's a new thought up at thinking*through*design. This thought is on using calendars on your layouts. I have a couple of packs of Jillibean Soup calendar spots and some Jenni Bowlin calendars I was thinking about using. It turned out that the brown Jenni Bowlin calendars matched my layout better than the green or black Jillibean Soup spots.
I started out my layout from scratch. I had NO idea how the layout was going to turn out. I used some Jillibean Soup Neapolitan Bisque paper that I LOVE. It helps to start out with products that you love. And it's always fun diggin' out the new goodies. This layout is totally ME!
The title was a bit of a... um... story. They were originally white corrugated letters from Pebbles Inc. and I thought they blended in too much with the patterns in the background. So, I outlined each letter with a Stampin' Up! marker ("Not Quite Navy") and I accidentally marked on one of the letters. SO, I just colored all the letters in with the brush end of the marker. And that was hard because the letters were already glued to the page and I had to *very carefully* color each letter in while they were still on the layout. It ended up okay though because I really like how the navy pops with the background. It's interesting how things turn out totally different than you anticipated!

3 Projects on a Saturday!

I have gotten quite a bit of "challenge scrapping" in today, meaning that the projects I have made are mostly for challenges.

This layout I made from the Pretty Little Studio sketch this week. I loved the grid of photos on the sketch! I would have left the title like it is used on the sketch- on the top of the photos- but my letters covered up the tops of the patterned papers, and that's the part I wanted showing! So, I changed it up. :) And as you can see, I'm still lovin' my white Mister Huey! It wasn't quite dry when I took this picture... I had misted on the page before I started and let it dry, but I covered up most of the splotches so I added some more after I finished the layout. So a few sprinkles weren't dry yet! :P

Supplies:
Patterned Paper, Kraft: Jillibean Soup
Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Jillibean Soup
Stickers, Diecuts: Jillibean Soup
Ribbon: American Crafts
Pens: American Crafts, Stampin' Up!
Mist: Studio Calico

This next card I made for the Pretty Little Studio Inspiration Challenge. The inspiration photo just screamed "Sand Castle" paper from PLS, so I got out my 8x8 paper pack and set to work! I actually lifted this card idea from the July/ August Paper Crafts magazine, but it was a card from the preview of next month's magazine, so technically, it's from the September/ October Paper Crafts

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Pretty Little Studio
Kraft Paper: Michael's
Buttons: American Crafts, stash
White Pen: UniBall
Letter Stickers: Lily Bee

And one last project- a card for the Frosted Designs "Fabulous Friday" challenge! This week the challenge was to use washi tape! And who doesn't love washi tape?! I sure love it! :)

Supplies:
White Cardstock: Canvas Corp.
Washi Tape: American Crafts, Wal-Mart, other
Journaling Spot: Jillibean Soup
Tag Sticker: Imaginisce
Scalloped Circle Die: Spellbinders

A CARd

I'm back with a manly card this time! :) I used the Paper Bakery Kits Sketch here for this card. I wanted to make a card to send to my brother that just moved out this week. So I used my Crate Paper Story Teller paper and my Kaisercraft stamps, which are some of my only manly supplies. :P This stamp set is my favorite for guy cards. Thanks for visiting!!

A 2-pager!

I just finished up a 2-pager for the Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesdays! I was so happy when I saw that the sketch this time was a 2-pager! I don't think they have ever done a 2-page sketch! I LOVED the sketch. I dug out some of my BoBunny Barefoot & Bliss paper (I had a lot of scraps left so I thought I'd use them up!) and some pictures from our swimming trip last week. It's been a while since I've done a 2-pager!

The left photo opens out into a little book and shows 2 more photos. I glued 2 envelopes together to make the book. I've never done this before on a page, and I kinda like it! :)
Happy July 4th!

Wanna See a Project I Did?

I have been wanting to sew me a purse for a while, and last week I actually went through with it! I bought this fabric from Miss Kate's, a little shop in Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO (Who knew SDC had a fabric store?? I stumbled upon it when we were there last month!).

My mom helped me make a pattern from an Aeropostale purse I love the size of and then I proceeded to add the ruffles to it! I looooove how it turned out! It turned out JUST how I had imagined it! The fabric strips are from Riley Blake and the gray and yellow base pieces are from Moda, I believe. I bought the gray and yellow pieces from our local fabric store.
One thing I like about this purse is that I used fusible fleece on the yellow part of the purse so that the purse its actually very stiff, as opposed to having that "floppy" feel of a handmade purse. I used the fusible fleece on the straps as well, so that helps with the stability of the purse too.

Thanks for visiting and looking at one of my sewing projects! :)

Frosted Designs Tuesday!

Well, it's Tuesday, so that means another card challenge from Frosted Designs. And the sketch for this week was designed by me! :) It was super fun to design this sketch, and we got to use some digital stamps from our sponsor! Please check out this week's challenge and I would LOVE it if you participated!
