Be Happy

I love making cards. It just makes me happy to think that I can send someone happy mail and that I can make their day better.

I also love playing along with challenges. When I saw Shanna Noel's mood board challenge, I had to play along. I loved the color combination and elements in the mood board. Cork, wood veneer, typewriters, and tags? Yes, please.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Tuesday!

Recent Cardmaking

Here are a few cards I have created lately. If you want to see more about these cards and other projects, check out my Studio Calico gallery. That's the place I've been posting my projects recently. ;)

Be back soon! :)

Keep Doing What You're Doing

I just love scrapbooking. The past couple of days have been proof of that. I have created some for-no-reason-and-just-because-I-love-to projects. It's so stress- relieving for me. I sometimes stress about how my page is or isn't turning out like I want it to, but when I just go with it, it's so much fun. It truly is therapy for me. Pretty paper and memory-filled photos? Yes, please!

I have had this photo printed for a little bit. It's just an outfit selfie that I took right before going to work. But I thought, why not document how my "style" has come about from having to dress up for work? So that's just what I went about doing.

Something went a little crazy on my layout towards the end of the process. I didn't like the plain white background, so I decided to stamp on it. Oops. It was too bold. So I painted over it with white mist, which usually lightens the color of the ink. But it smeared the mist drops that I had already splattered on my page. Double oops. I was tempted to just paint over it all with white paint, then I stopped. Why not just go with it?! That's kinda been my motto lately. ;)

P.S. Currently 8.5x11 is my favorite size to scrapbook. Less space to fill up and it seems like I have been doing a lot of single-photo layouts lately and so it's easier to do a smaller page with one picture.

P.P.S. I used the gorgeous Studio Calico kit add-on "Merlin" that I won from the Just Two Midwest Girls challenge blog. I LOVE IT! If only I could afford to subscribe to Studio Calico... I'd be in heaven.

Ok that's it for today!

Picture Perfect Day

So I'm being a good girl and sharing a layout that I haven't posted here on the blog yet! I made this for a Hip Kit Club sketch challenge a couple of months ago.

I used the Cosmo Cricket "Saltwater" paper for this layout. Since this was a beach page, I thought I better use up my beach-y themed paper! Which, really, the patterns I used weren't very beachy. The bold blue floral print that I used for the smaller piece of paper inside of the yellow paper was a bit too much for the page. So I used some gesso and painted over the pattern. I had to scrape most of the gesso off, though, because it was making it to where you couldn't see the pattern at ALL. Oops. Then I added some blue watercolor to look like water after the gesso dried.

I diecut the "picture perfect" part of the title with my Cameo and then painted it with some mist from Studio Calico. I LOVE this shade of pink. Then I added "day" with my favorite thickers. ;)

Enamel dots and epoxy brads are some of my favorite embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by! I will have more projects to share soon! :)

Scrapping on the Go: A Mini Album

We are home for a little while! Yippee! We had been gone for a week for vacation/ some other stuff and then we came home just to turn around and go back out to Missouri for my grandmother's funeral the end of this last week! Needless to say, we are happy to be in the comforts of our OWN home. My bed's gonna feel good tonight.

Anyway, with being gone so much, I haven't created anything recently. And I was dying. So I packed a little tote bag of scrappy goodness to take with me this last trip.

It's hard for me to narrow down from my huge stash what to bring. But, I have found that if I think of a project to do, then I can make a kit of things that I want to use.

I decided to make a mini album-- one of my favorite things EVER to create. I printed some mini photos of Laura that I took back in May and packed some new products to play with. I packed my Lemonlush mini pad from Studio Calico, along with some other SC embellishments. I also brought along my watercolors + waterbrush + watercolor paper. I love using watercolors. I am FAR from being an expert at using them, but I still love the beautiful effect of them.

I made my album 4 inches x 5 inches, so I could use the 6x6 paper pad for some of the pages.

I even stole some packing from a table that my brother had bought for a page in my mini album.
Adds so much texture!

This page was a bit tricky. I wasn't being too patient on waiting for the watercoloring to dry, and my writing on this page was kinda messy. It started peeling up the paper in some places.
But thankfully you can't really tell it. ;)

And just some close-ups of the album!

Here's to hoping I create more and share more! :)

CURRENTLY

Sorry there hasn't been a lot going on here on the blog lately. Sometimes I feel at a loss, not knowing what to share. So in the midst of silence, I'll just share a "what I'm doing right now" post. I always love reading other posts of this sort, so I hope you enjoy. ;)

Right now we are in Missouri for my grandmother's funeral, so with that being said, I will try not to make everything sad and Granny-related.

Thinking: that it's crazy that I will be 20 this October. I'm getting old. :)
Listening: to One Direction, as always
Creating: mostly layouts lately, with some mixed media too
Reading: new magazines for this month… Southern Living, Country Living, Real Simple
Feeling: weird that I haven't been to work in so long. Well, I worked Monday, but still. I will have been off two weeks this coming Friday if you don't count Monday. It's weird. Puny paycheck, here I come! LOL
Wishing: I could travel somewhere fun. Hopefully someday soon!
Wondering: If I have forgotten a lot of what I learned in school. We'll find out when I start college this fall!
Wanting: to continue on with God's plan for my life, even when I can't see where I'm going… still trying to get used to "flying by the seat of my pants" (as my mom would say)
Eating: popsicles and slushies are my summer faves
Loving: swimming and being outside when it's sunny. And my iPhone.
Not Loving: that things cost money. Why?! Why can't I just quit my job and travel the world? 'Cause then I'd be a bum, that's why. Haha.

Ok so that's where I am in life right now. Tell me something about your life right now! I'd love to hear it! :)
