Favorites

Favorites. I have a lot of favorites. To choose just a few products that are my ABSOLUTE favorite items is like trying to pick which kid is your favorite. I was inspired by the Whimsical Twist challenge to get out some of my current favorite products and make a page with them! :)

I love the Crate Paper "The Pier" line. It's so summer-y and fun. Although it's supposed to be a beach line, I use it for everyday summer photos, like these that I took when my brother and I had a day out together- just me and him. "The Pier" has so many different patterns and color combos that it's easy to get the look that you want.

Let's see… more favorites…

Wood veneer. Love it. Used some different bits and pieces on this layout.

The pencil-looking rub-ons from Amy Tangerine give an awesome sketchy feel to pages.

Enamel dots. Gotta have them. I'm quickly running out of the colors I use most of… I'm going to try to use my stash of them up before I buy more. Think I can do it…? Hmm… we'll see.

Flair buttons. I don't have many of these, but I think they're a fun touch when you're looking from something to add some dimension.

Simple Stories Sn@p letter stickers. (the pink ones, here) This font is awesome. Basic. I'm thinking it's similar to Kelly Purkey's alphas? I want some of her products soooo bad!!

Diecuts. I am getting better at buying only stuff that I KNOW I'll use. Like, if I want a specific line, I always know I'll use the 6x6 pad and matching die cuts. I can go pretty far with just those two products, actually. Diecuts are a must on any of my projects. They're so fun to layer and add as accents!

6x6 mini paper pads. Mentioned above, I can do a lot with just a little mini pad. That's what I used on this layout. The only 12x12 piece I used was the background (of course) and the diagonal striped piece on the right side of the page. That came from the page of cut-apart elements and tags from "The Pier." Oh, I also love that in mini pads, the prints are smaller. Sometimes I'll be so used to my small patterns, then when I see the exact pattern in the 12x12 version, I'm like, "Whoa!" It's like my brain is so used to the small patterns that I feel like the 12x12 size is large print! LOL

Ok- toodles for now!

Last PLS Post...

Today I'm sharing my last project for my Pretty Little Studio Design Team term. I am so sad to have to leave this team. It's been a wonderful learning experience. I've gotten to work with some fabulous ladies and create with some awesome products. Hopefully it won't be the last of DT work for me! I hope I'm just starting! :)

You Are Loved

Hi! I've been into all sorts of stuff lately. Reorganizing, sorting, you name it. Yesterday I transferred all of my scrapbook supplies from my scrapbook room to my actual room. I had bought a desk and book shelf with some of my graduation money for if-and-when we move. and our other house doesn't have a scrapbook room. While we were on vacation last week, I had bought some new organizing whatnots, so I wanted to see how it all fit into my shelf. So, I moved it all over, and I'm loving it!! When you sort you find out how MUCH stuff you have! Boy, do I need to get busy! I *should* try to use all my stuff up, but we'll see how that works. It usually makes me want to buy more for some reason. Like, since my brain says "No," my heart says, "Yes!"

This page came together out of inspiration from Paige Evans's Scrap Your Stash video. I have gotten to where I love saving the Two Peas videos to my iPad and watching them whenever I get the chance. And of course I love to play along with the challenges. :) Paige's challenge was to use a repeated shape. And if you have seen any of her pages, you would know that she LOVES doing that. I loved her take on semicircles, so I got out my 1 3/8 inch circle punch and some Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm scraps and got to work! Somehow I always end up having more punched out shapes than I need, so I used the leftovers to make a Thank You card. I still have more leftover semicircles though. And scraps for that matter. At least I can say I tried to use them up!

Project Life: Weeks 29-31

Hey there! Just thought I'd keep my blog posting going with a few of my most recent PL spreads! I love mixing products so they're different for every weekly spread. I think that's what makes Project Life fun-- anything goes!

Week 29- I won a magnificent Basic Grey Hipster prize pack from Scrapbook Circle the other week and I just HAD to use it on a week of my PL! I thought this line was super masculine, until I got it. I found there are lots more of neutrals and flowery patterns in this line than I thought. I'm usually not that "into" Basic Grey lines, but this one I love! I mixed in this pack of BG Capture diecuts and transparencies too.

Week 30- I used some goodies that I got in a mystery box from Katie. We swapped boxes of scrapbook stuff a few weeks ago and it was so much fun! You get a box of new-to-you stuff! I think all of this is from that box of stuff except the "I LOVE THIS" insert. That's from my stash.

Week 31- I had LOTS of photos for this one week, so I used the Design F Project Life page protector. The Carta Bella "Hello Again" collection is a new favorite of mine, so I used some of the 3x4 journaling cards from that line to mix in with the numerous photos I had to document for that week. My embellishing was minimal on this week's page because of all the journaling and photos.

Paper, Paper, Paper!

Have I ever told you that I love patterned paper?? It's one thing that I buy all the time. I mean, I'd much rather pay $0.90 for a piece of paper than $4.99 for a pack of embellishments. I find myself buying more and more paper all the time. But that's not a problem if I use it, right?

I was browsing my favorite scrapbook websites yesterday and found this sketch from Paper Lovers Studio. Even though the deadline for the challenge is past, I thought I'd still play along just because the sketch was SO inspiring.

I mixed together the Paper Bakery July scrapbook kit "Broadway" and the Capture 365 kit for this page. I forget how awesome it is to have kits because everything goes together so well. You don't have to look around for stuff to match. The only thing I added that was NOT from one of the kits was the epoxy brads. They're from my stash. (Trying to use up old stuff!) The Studio Calico "Atlantic" mini papers that came in the Capture 365 kit were perfect for the paper strips. And I loved that piece of 12x12 paper from The Pier collection from Crate Paper... I almost couldn't use it!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

I Love Summer & Friends

Hello from Pigeon Forge! :) We are on a family vacation and I happened to bring along some scrapbook stuff. So of course, I had to make a page. I saw the Paper Bakery Sketch and I knew it would fit perfectly with my Gossamer Blue July kit and Paper Bakery Capture 365 July kit. These kits mixed so PERFECTLY. I couldn't have asked for more awesome products to work with. They are the perfect summer combo. I will be using this more in the future, believe me.

Here is the sketch I used:

I had seen a layout by one of the PBK design team members where she flipped the sketch so that the photos were on the right side. I actually started out doing it that way, thinking that was the way the sketch was. Then I noticed that the sketch actually had the photos on the left. I ended up liking it better that way anyway!

I loved the diecut card from the Simple Stories Sn@p collection that came in the PBK Capture 365 kit. And I am trying more and more to use "premade" titles, like ones on journaling cards, background papers, diecuts, premade phrases, etc. So this one I knew had to be used. I didn't want it to say just "I Love Summer," so I added the "& Friends." I wasn't sure about the detached journaling card on the bottom right of the page. It's a little "out there." But I just swallowed hard and did it.
I actually think I might like it....?

Oh, and by the way, this page is also for the Whimsical Twist challenge to scrapbook your summer! I've been doing that a lot lately!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Now I'm off to enjoy more of VACATION! :)

Who I Am

I'm back with a new layout to share with you! And it's a layout about ME! I rarely do those, so sit back and enjoy this one. :)

I used the new Hello Again collection by Kaitlyn Sheaffer for Carta Bella. I don't think I have ever bought anything from Carta Bella before. But I LOVE this line! My mom looked at it and said, "The colors are so 'you!' " I love all the little icons in this line along with the beautiful watercolor look. I love watercoloring, but I hate that it wrinkles the paper so much. So when I find a piece of paper that looks watercolored, I get excited. I get the watercolor look without being annoyed at how wrinkled the paper is!

So. About me. (This layout is for the Scrapbook Circle challenge to scrapbook about yourself, BTW.) I will tell you some things you might not know.

I am very organized.

I love sorting.

I am really bad at giving directions. If you need to know how to get somewhere, do NOT ask me. I can't follow directions someone gives me, either. Just give me a TomTom and everything's good. :)

I'm a very plain person when it comes to dressing. If you want a fashionista, my sister's the girl. It doesn't bother me to wear a jean skirt and a tank top every single day. Laura always tries to get me to buy new things, which I do every now and then, but I would much rather just be me.

I love to shop. I love finding good deals. I don't really have favorite stores. My favorites are the ones with the good deals!

I just got glasses. I have had contacts since I started driving (I can't read road signs without them!), and when we were ordering my contacts the other week, I asked Mom if I could get some glasses. Just for back-up. Now I just switch between glasses and contacts, depending on how I'm feeling each day. ;) Sometimes my contacts get scummy and annoying and it's nice to be able to switch to something else.

I love to drive. Maybe just because I'm independent. I love being able to do whatever I want in my car. Think, "I want to go to the scrapbook store." And then go! I love it!

I dream of one day being on major scrapbook design teams. I have LOVED my time on the Pretty Little Studio design team, and I would love to do that kind of work for other companies. Maybe one day! :)

Ok so there's some totally RANDOM things about me that you may not have known! Just sayin', I don't really like writing about myself... :/

And just saying, I HATE it when my handwriting gets smaller and more squished in my journaling... :(

Playing with The Paper Bakery Kits

Hello everyone! Seems like I haven't posted a "free" project for a while now!

I just got back this weekend from being away from home for TWO WEEKS! I had a blast doing all sorts of stuff (I have a LOT of photos to scrap now!), but it's always good to be home. :) Anyway, when I got home, I had 5 boxes of scrappy mail waiting on me. 5! It was like Christmas. :) My scrapbook room is a little fuller now! One of the boxes had my PBK July kit. I ordered the Capture 365 kit to use on my Project Life, but I was sent the scrapbook kit. Oops! I emailed Sarah and got that fixed, but she said I got to keep the scrapbook kit! Yippee! It is such an AWESOME kit that I couldn't wait to dig in. And what better way than to use the kit on the Paper Bakery sketch challenge, right?? I loved the sketch and it fit perfect for scrapping a few of the many photos I have now!

I was going to title this layout "Olive Garden" ('cause that's where we went to eat... and where these photos were taken), but the acrylic letters that came in the kit were too big. Plus, I kinda liked the title that was already printed on the Simple Stories background paper! No, it wasn't the title I was thinking of, but I'm horrible at titles anyway. ;P It's kinda fun doing something different! I'm ok with changing my mind!

Oh! And I used a lot of new stamps on this layout! I loved the exclusive stamp that came in the Boardwalk kit. Even though the anchor didn't quite fit my photos, I used it anyway. It was too cute to not use! I also used some of the Allison Kreft/ Webster's Pages stamps that I just bought from Two Peas. I have a feeling I will be using these a lot in the near future. :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

August...

It's August 1st and I have a layout up on the Pretty Little Studio blog. I'm sad. This is my last month with Pretty Little Studio. :( I didn't reapply for their design team since I'm starting college this fall. Mom and I just thought it'd be better if I concentrate more on my studies without worrying about getting projects done and emailed. (Really, I don't even do that much. But anyway.) I have LOVED being on this design team and I am soooo sad about having to leave. It's bittersweet. More bitter than sweet. This was the first "manufacturer" design team I made and it will always have a place in my heart. I love you, PLS! Ok, now back to happy stuff. Just click on the left sidebar PLS blinkie and it'll take you to the PLS blog where you can see the WHOLE reveal of my page!

Oh, and don't worry. I still have a few projects for PLS to do. So I'm not disappearing yet. ;)
